  Daniel Costa completed a B.A. at UCLA and a Ph.D. at U.C. Santa Cruz followed by postdoctoral research at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. His research focuses on the ecology and physiology of marine mammals and seabirds, taking him to every continent and almost every habitat from the Galapagos to Antarctica. Dr. Kimmey began her career at UCLA where she studied heme acquisition in Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the lab of Marcus Horwitz, MD. She did her graduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis with Christina Stallings, PhD studying autophagy-independent functions of ATG5 in controlling neutrophil mediated susceptibility to M. tuberculosis. Dr. Dianne Hendricks began her position as an Associate Teaching Professor in the Biomolecular Engineering Department at UC Santa Cruz in September 2021. She teaches introductory molecular biology lab courses (BME 121L, 122L, and 123L) and technical communication courses.
