Ravi Rajan is Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he has served since his appointment in 1997. I am a historian of transnational and modern China. My interests lie in the intersection of diasporas, nations, empires, regions, and genders. I am a proud alumna of the UCSC History graduate program, having received a Ph.D. here in 2009.
