I am a scholar of race and slavery in the United States, the Americas, and beyond. Margo Hendricks is the author of Race and Romance: Coloring the Past (ACMRS 2022). Her current project is From Cotton Fields to Shakespeare’s Negress: An Academic Memoir. . . of sorts. With Patricia Parker, Margo is co-editor of Women, Race and Writing in the Early Modern Period (1994), Under the pen name Elysabeth Grace, Margo writes romance fiction. Her recent academic essays appear in New Literary History and the Journal for Popular Romance Studies.
