I work at the intersection of philosophy of mind, epistemology, and social philosophy. The big theme in my research is how cognition can be hijacked in ways that contribute to the perpetuation of oppressive social structures - and in how we can fight back. I am interested in the nature of belief, evidence-resistance and the dynamics of belief revision, and social dimensions of the mind. Brenda Selena Lara (she/they/ella) is a UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Santa Cruz’s Literature Department. She received her doctoral degree from UCLA’s Cesar Chavez Department of Chicana/o and Central American Studies with an emphasis in Gender Studies and Experimental Critical Theory.
