Film and Digital Media

Yixuan Li is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Film and Digital Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She holds an M.A. in Cinema Studies from New York University and a B.A. in Literature of Theatre, Film and Television  from Beijing Normal University, China. As a researcher, Li’s work explores the intersections of early moving images, Global South cinema, media archaeology, and visual modernity. Her broader research interests include radical media movements in 1980s East Asia, historical films, Chinese material culture, and fan labor.
