Alison Hope Alkon writes, thinks and teaches about food and health social movement, their goals, organizational strategies, and adoption by various constituencies. She teaches classes on food systems, pesticides and social movements that have sought to make us healthier. She is committed to community-based pedagogical practices that support students in developing capacious imaginings of the worlds they seek to build.

My most recent book is an edited volume that examines how various communities are taking up the fight for healthier, local and regenerative food systems throughout the United States. It builds on my previous work on farmers markets, urban agriculture and food and health social movements.
I have also written several recent articles about experiential teaching and the importance of guiding students to connect their academic coursework to their lived experiences.
