Hans Kuzmich is a Belarus-born, Los Angeles-based artist whose practice investigates the construction of otherness at the intersection of gender, sexuality, and citizenship, with particular attention to carceral infrastructures. Currently completing a PhD in Film and Digital Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Kuzmich holds an MFA from UCLA and a BFA from Cooper Union. Working across transmission arts, media installation, and performance, he employs site-specific listening and sonic fiction to investigate power's operation through sound and the electromagnetic spectrum from a trans, diasporic position. Recent exhibitions and residencies include Sonic Nomads, Seoul, South Korea; SPAM New Media Festival, Seattle, WA; Sound + Environment, Newcastle upon Tyne, England; Nida Art Colony of Vilnius Academy of Arts, Lithuania; Radiophrenia, Glasgow, Scotland; Wave Farm, Acra, NY; Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT; The Studios at MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA; SOMA, Mexico City; and Whitney Independent Study Program, New York, NY.
