Allan Langdale specializes in the art and architecture of the eastern Mediterranean, including Italy, Turkey, and Cyprus. Allan received his PhD in Italian Renaissance art history and the historiography of art history from the University of California at Santa Barbara. A native of Italy, I graduated from the University of Bari, Italy, with a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature, majoring in English. I taught for several years at UC Davis and then moved to UC Santa Cruz where I have been teaching all levels of Italian for over two decades. I have an immense dedication for teaching, one of my goals is to provide my students with language skills that they may not encounter in the textbook. I am originally from Modena, Italy. I have received a BA and MA in Letteratura italiana from the Università degli studi di Bologna, and a Ph.D. in Medieval Studies from the University of Notre Dame. After completing my Ph.D., I taught at Vassar College and Smith College. I have been part of the Literature Department at UCSC since 2019.
